Horse Associations – North Carolina
North Carolina Horse Council
The North Carolina Horse Council exists to represent and further the common interest of the entire equine industry of North Carolina. The North Carolina Horse Council is composed of volunteer individuals and groups from all breeds and types of horse activities, without bias. They are amateurs and professionals, horse hobbyist, commercial producers, local riding clubs, and larger corporations.
NC Quarter Horse Association
The North Carolina Quarter Horse Association was established in 1963 with the objective to “stimulate and regulate any and all other matters such as may pertain to the breeding, exhibition, publicity, sale, racing or improvements of this breed”. Multiple national and world champion horses have been bred, born, trained and exhibited in this state by an exceptional group of owners, trainers and riders.
North Carolina Walking Horse Association
The North Carolina Walking Horse Association strives to: preserve and advance the general welfare of Tennessee Walking Horses, foster appreciation for the beauty and versatility of the breed, benefit Walking Horse owners, trainers and breeders, encourage participation in the riding and exhibiting activities that contribute to a lifestyle enjoyed by children and adults and understand, interpret, and comply with industry regulations and guidelines.
Tarheel Appaloosa Association
The Tarheel Appaloosa Association (TAA) is a regional club devoted to a truly unique and colorful breed, the Appaloosa. No matter what discipline their members choose, they can always find an Appaloosa that has successfully competed and left their mark. Halter, Hunter, Western, Gaming, Cattle, Dressage, Eventing, Competitive Trail Riding or just being a best friend, the Appaloosa truly has something for everyone!
North Carolina Arabian Horse Association
The North Carolina Arabian Horse Association was formed in 1969 to unite North Carolinians interested in Arabian horses and that wanted to promote Arabians and Part-Arabians through breeding and showing. The first meeting of the association and its founding members was held June 8, 1969 in Asheville, North Carolina. Since that time, the association has continued to grow. The NCAHA continues to promote Arabian horses through shows, awards programs and challenge series for its members and its goals have remained the same since its creation.
Carolina Paint Horse Club
The Carolina Paint Horse Clubs’ Mission Statement is to promote the American Paint Horse Breed while providing quality events for families and individuals in a safe and sportsman like atmosphere. They offer a voice to Paint Horse Equestrians all around the Carolinas, that stands up for the breed and hosts shows and events that show off these beautiful horses and the people who love them.

The North Carolina Hunter Jumper Association offers a voice to Equestrians all around North Carolina. They host events and competitions that show off these beautiful horses and the people who love to ride them. From junior riders to adult riders, the North Carolina Hunter Jumper Association shows appreciation for them all!
Horse Associations – Virginia
Virginia Horse Council
The Virginia Horse Council is a voice for the expanding equine industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Council is a not-for-profit organization formed by horsemen for Virginia horsemen. The membership and Board of Directors represent all breeds. The purpose of the Virginia Horse Council is to promote and improve the horse industry in Virginia.
American Saddlebred Horse Association of Virginia
At ASHAV, they are dedicated to the enjoyment of the American Saddlebred in Virginia. Through their website, you can view forms to join their club, register your horse for high point awards, and advertise your farm, barn or individual on this site, links to important sites online, and a list of farms that promote and support the American Saddlebred. ASHAV’s goal is promote the breeding, raising, training, sales and exhibiting of the American Saddlebred Horse in the Commonwealth of Virginia and elsewhere, and to promote other activities and events of any nature to create enthusiasm, use, pleasure and interest in the breed.
Virginia Thoroughbred Association
The VTA has emerged as the industry leader assisting the Virginia Racing Commission in developing and fine-tuning the rules under which the Commission regulates the Virginia Breeders Fund. The VTA administers and promotes the Virginia Breeders Fund. The organization and its staff constantly research and develop opportunities in an effort to strengthen and enhance Virginia’s standing as one of the world’s most important centers for Thoroughbred bloodstock.
Virginia Quarter Horse Association
The purpose of the Virginia Quarter Horse Association is to develop positive participation in Quarter Horse activities within Virginia in cooperation with the American Quarter Horse Association. Their goal is to promote and stimulate the sale, breeding, exhibition and ownership of the Quarter Horse. Above all, the Virginia Quarter Horse Association will encourage sportsmanship and family values in all activities, insisting on the humane and dignified treatment of the American Quarter Horse by owners, trainers and exhibitors.
Virginia Arabian Horse Association
The Virginia Arabian Horse Association offers a voice to Arabian Horse lovers and Equestrians from all over Virginia. They host events and competitions that show off these gorgeous horses and the people who love them. They represent Arabian Horse lovers young and old, near and far.
Virginia Horse Show Association
The VHSA is an association of show members and individual members cooperating to promote the sport and to improve the breeding of horses in the Commonwealth. All breed groups, shows and horse interests are represented and membership is open to all individuals and to shows in Virginia and the bordering states of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and North Carolina. The VHSA is a member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation, the American Horse Council and the Virginia Horse Council.
Virginia Paint Horse Club
The Virginia Paint Horse Club strives to establish, promote, and expand the awareness of the Paint Horse breed in our home state. To serve their members in a fair and timely manner and create an environment that fosters good sportsmanship and courtesy to all. The VPHC will serve the Paint Horse breed by creating an ideal of good horsemanship. They value their members and will offer accessibility and encouragement to achieve shared goals and objectives.
